When I joined a gym in February 2017 after my doctor instructed me to start strength and conditioning training or risk facing bone density loss/breakage as I age I luckily found Barry Horton. He was working at that time at a local gym. I had never had experience working with a trainer or going to a gym with any regularity. Well, that certainly has changed.

Barry’s kind yet firm way of getting people motivated to not only want to participate in physical fitness activities and exercise but become committed to doing it regularly is remarkable. His bootcamp classes have become something I look forward to for the vigorous yet fun complete work out. Each class is different so it is never boring, in fact I also cant wait to see what kind of routine he has devised for us each time. Barry’s patience with his students is remarkable as well and he is always making sure that people are doing the exercises correctly so as not to injure themselves. He also has instilled the concept of teamwork into all his clients too. We cheer for the beginners and the more physical adept encourage the newcomers and older participants for their accomplishments. It’s the spirit of the effort that each person puts into it that is celebrated each time.

I would recommend Barry Horton and his “B ALL ABOUT YOUR BODY” to anyone serious about making a real commitment to exercise and a healthy lifestyle. He’s a fantastic trainer with a great attitude, compassion and the unique quality of being able to be friendly yet firm.

Barry Horton is a superior trainer and master of his craft. He and I have worked together since May 2017, and, in the beginning, I was just one step up from a couch potato. Barry met me at my start level but continually worked to take me up a notch. He creates training programs that are individualized and challenging, always ensuring that I am working hard and seeing results. He is passionate and dedicated, cheering me on even while he is kicking my butt! I am thankful that he was recommended to me, and count myself lucky to have him on my team.

OUR MOTTO IS “HOOP GIRLS WHIRL THE WORLD” With a big H - for HAPPY!!! Hoop Girls have a whirl of a time, getting happy and fit, while burning calories hooping it up to their favorite pop tunes using beautifully designed hoops. Our Fitness Hoops ( they can purchase from Betty) are handmade, slightly weighted, larger hoops, which makes learning hooping easier for beginner and challenging for the pro. We start with a dynamic warm up using the hoops, followed by Hula Hooping and learning some awesome 'hooping tricks” and eventually, full choreographed HOOP DANCE routines. As the class progresses and the girls master some “Hoop Tricks” they then collaborate together to create their very own choreography. The class will end gentle yoga stretch and some fun games. We do our best to have a Hooping performance for parents on last day (about 10 min before then end of the last class). Potential performance in various local events such as Vets Day Parade, Thanksgiving Spectacular, Holiday Tree Lightings, St Pats Parade, Alive at 5, Walk for Hope and more.

Wed Hoopers ADVANCED ONLY AND BY INVITATION. Betty reserves the right to put hooper back to beginner/intermediate if hooper is unable to keep up with advanced moves or is emotionally not ready for this very structured class.

Hooping is a wonderful form of exercise, self expression, and creativity. It improves fitness, stamina, endurance, strengthens Core and improves hand-eye co- ordination, proprioception, balance and motor skills. Hoop Girls is also a phenomenal stress reducer. HOOP GIRLS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PERFORM IN MANY LOCAL COMMUNITY EVENTS SUCH AS PARADES, FESTIVALS AND HOLIDAY EVENTS. All girls are welcome to participate in most of the events as long as they ccan do sustained waist hooping and a few basic tricks. We have an "outfit" that we wear for each event. You will be required to purchase these outifits in January for the St Patricks Day Parade and again in March for the Memorial Day Parade, Flag Day and other spring time events. FOR THE THANKSGIVING SPECTACULAR, HALLOWEEN GLOW HOOP AND MILL RIVER HOLIDAY EVENTS HOOPERS MUST BE 8 YEARS OLD BY SEPT AND WILL HAVE TO "TRY OUT" AND MUST BE ABLE TO REGISTER FOR AN ADDITIONAL 6-8 WK "PRACTICE" CLASS FRIDAY EVES 4:15-5:15 AT DAVENPORT OCT - DEC. This practice class is in addition to their regularly scheduled class.
