All households in need of rental assistance at a privately owned unit must first place their name on the Housing Authority Section 8 Voucher Waiting List. By taking our Landlord Education class, you will learn the technical, financial, and practical aspects involved in owning a rental property, as well as the responsibilities that come with being a landlord.

The purpose is to help you, as a first-time landlord, take a realistic look at and understand the risks and responsibilities involved in the business of being a landlord, and to share some proven ways of handling them successfully.

We offer a 3-hour pre-closing education course free of charge to CHFA loan applicants. The 3-hour pre-closing class provides an overview of a range of financial and practical topics that a homebuyer should understand before completing the homeownership process.

Applicants must have a loan reservation number from their CHFA-approved participating lender to register for the class.
