Despite struggling in a public school, Matthew has thrived at Mill Neck, where he has made many friends, learned valuable skills through internships, and built his self-confidence. His story is a testament to the positive impact of the school’s vocational program and supportive community.

The Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf, in collaboration with the Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation and the Rotary Club of Floral Park Bell Rose, recently launched a Kindness Garden project. The Garden is a tribute to Catherine, a young girl who loved animals and believed in the power of kindness. The Garden provides a safe haven for insects, bees, monarchs, and other butterflies, and promotes kindness in local communities and beyond.

Rita Farencino’s journey of discovery about her daughters’ hearing loss has been challenging, but the Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf has been a source of comfort and support. The school provides a safe haven for families with deaf and hard of hearing children, offering assistance, resources, and a welcoming environment. Rita and her family have learned sign language and other communication skills to help them communicate with each other. The Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf was featured on Good Morning America for their dedication to empowering deaf and hard of hearing students. With the help of Verizon, the school was able to implement new technology to facilitate remote learning and ensure that students could stay connected with their teachers and peers. Verizon is also donating $15,000 to the Mill Neck Foundation to improve the lives of the deaf and hard of hearing community.
